Paula Deen

In 2017, StudioLabs was engaged by Paula Deen Ventures to architect, design, migrate, and build a new, robust platform to house everything related to Paula Deen. On the backend, the site uses WordPress with MySQL to manage Paula’s large library of various content types and the connections between them. ElasticSearch enables not only site-wide search and an ingredient specific recipe search, but also related content and filters. The site uses standard WordPress templating, enhanced with the React JavaScript framework to power interactive user features including sharing, comments, and filterable content.

The Paula Deen website generates revenue through a combination of paid subscription, in-page ads, and pre-roll video ads.

The Paula Deen website generates revenue through a combination of paid subscription, in-page ads, and pre-roll video ads. The site is easily managed by the Paula Deen marketing team, dynamically displaying content as it becomes available. New content is added daily, and the site strives to connect all aspects of Paula’s business: recipes, videos, blogs, events, and stores.

The site is hosted on an AWS Load Balancer with CloudFlare CDN using W3 Total Cache and memcache. The site averages around 30k unique visitors a day, with intermittent peaks around 60k users.
